The MBIS Summer School begins the Monday after the end of the regular academic school year, typically the third week in June. Although it is a four-week program, two and three-week enrollments are also possible. Four age-based levels are offered: Montessori (ages 3-6), Lower Elementary (grades 1-3), Upper Elementary (grades 4-6), and Upper School (grades 7-11).
Montessori and Elementary Summer School are designed to allow enrolled students to reinforce and extend existing skills and understanding across the whole range of the curriculum. They also provide a smooth transition for students scheduled to begin classes in the next school year, or an opportunity to 'test the waters' for prospective enrollments. Although there is an academic focus, Summer School is intended to be 'fun'. The schedule includes regular field trips, themed activities, and other learning experiences that take place outside of the regular classroom.
The Upper School program is re-designed each year to cater to the needs and interests of the current student body. In recent years, scheduled offerings have included:
- IB DP preparatory classes
- SAT preparatory classes
- Subject-based extension classes
- Strength training
- Writing skills development
- Remedial courses
